CARIOQA-PMP
Cold Atom Rubidium Interferometer in Orbit for Quantum Accelerometry – Pathfinder Mission Preparation
2022-2027
Funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement 101081775
Call: HORIZON-CL4-2021-SPACE-01-62
CARIOQA-PMP was kicked off in December 2022 and will be completed in December 2027.
CARIOQA-PMP is coordinated by CNES with the support of DLR. Its overarching objective is to enable Europe to deploy quantum gravimeters/accelerometers in space through a Quantum Pathfinder Mission within the decade. Such technology will be used for satellite-based Earth science in order to monitor climate change and thus support the development of mitigation and adaptation measures.
Within the project, the task of the SATGEO team is to consolidate its methods and tools, and to develop and optimise its software devoted to the analysis of cold atom observations in space for gravity field retrieval, in order to run simulations and data analysis for the Quantum Pathfinder Mission.
